💫 Pay It Forward

Description:
Pay It Forward is a Java-based full stack project with the goal of building a non-profit, healthy, and supportive community.
🧭 Introduction
Pay It Forward is a web app designed to help people support each other using their unique skills — purely out of good intention.
No money or financial exchange is involved.
In this app, users can help others and get help in return through an exchange of credit points, which are earned by completing in-app tasks.
In short — it’s a zero-investment, community-driven platform that runs on goodwill and collaboration.
💡 The Concept
This idea came to me when I was browsing freelancing sites and noticed that even for simple tasks, people often charge high amounts — usually because the client is in urgent need or lacks technical knowledge.
That’s when I thought of Pay It Forward.
Sometimes, we all need help with something but don’t want (or can’t afford) to spend money for it — and currently, there’s no reliable system for that.
Pay It Forward aims to fill that gap.
Here’s how it works 👇
When a user creates an account, they receive 10 starting credit points.
These credits can be used to post jobs or requests — for example, if I need a small task done, I’ll create a post describing the job, its complexity, timeline, and the reward credits I’m offering.
Anyone interested in helping can apply for the job. Once selected, both users can chat inside the app (feature coming soon) to discuss details or adjust the credit reward if needed.
To maintain a trustworthy and healthy community, there’s also a rating system.
After each job, the poster can rate the helper based on how well the work was done.
Ratings will affect the helper’s ability to take on new or higher-importance tasks — for example, users with low ratings won’t be able to apply for high-reward jobs.
I also have several ideas in mind to make the app even more helpful, legitimate, and user-friendly as development continues.
⚙️ Current Progress
As of now, I’ve completed around 60–70% of the project.
The following features are working smoothly:
✅ Home Page
✅ Main Page
✅ Login and Registration
✅ Job Posting
✅ Applying for a Job
✅ Job Submission
✅ Profile Page
✅ Rating System
✅ Credit Exchange
All database connections and responses are working correctly with no major bugs or errors so far.
🧰 Tech Stack
Frontend: HTML, Tailwind CSS, JS
Backend: Java, Spring
Database: MySQL
Others: REST APIs, Postman, Bootstrap
🚀 What’s Next
So far, things are going well — but there’s still a lot of room for improvement.
The frontend currently looks basic, and I’d love to enhance it for a smoother, more modern user experience.
I also plan to add features like:
Direct in-app communication (chat system)
Wider network reach for physical help
A “fine” or penalty system for users who waste others’ time or spoil tasks
And more improvements for community transparency and usability
AI integration for better functionality and usefulness.
Since this project is built around community and collaboration, I’d really love your suggestions and help to make it even better.
Let’s work together to create something that promotes kindness, collaboration, and real-world impact 🌱
